My impression from using both (just a little bit),
is that KWord may someday grow up to be OpenOffice.
KWord is not as "lite" as Abiword, but it does not
seem to be in the same league as OpenOffice, which
I do think has a shot at the FM-replacement title
in Linux-land... with a bit more work and some
attention to consistency/rigor in the way that
formatting parameters are applied via styles.
As I said to somebody, if I could just straighten
out my other (mostly self-inflicted) Linux problems,
I'd probably put in enough concentrated time with
OOo to make it my new primary writing tool.
After all, I've been writing for years and have
never come near using all the capabilities of
Word or FrameMaker. It's the "core", bread'n'butter
functions that I need and use.
