Actually, HTTP stands for HyperText Transfer Protocol. So to say HTTP protocol is,
technically, redundant. But given the nature of acronyms and abbreviations, it's no
more than a venial sin. :-)

HTTP, or HTTPS which is secure HTTP, might stand in contrast to FTP, File Transfer
Protocol. As to what HTTP* stands for in your writer's mind, that's a tough one. I
find it difficult to be a mind reader. If your instincts are telling you to rewrite,
I'd go with those instincts.
