Subject:MS Word field codes search & replace From:Bill Nagel <bill -dot- nagel -at- trustworks -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Thu, 28 Nov 2002 16:14:39 +0100
Does anyone know if it is possible to do a search and replace in MS
Word, specify a field code in the "Replace with:" field, and have the
original plain text replaced with a working field code? For example:
Original text: "ABC is a product that is designed to..."
So when "Product" := "XYZ" the text reads "XYZ is a product that is
designed to..."
I have several hundred pages of docs that were written for a product
suite that is now going to be distributed through resellers and (at
least some of the time) rebranded. Naturally, I'll need to produce
re-branded documentation. I'd like to be able to make template docs in
which the product names are field-code variables rather than plain text.
I hope to migrate away from Word in the future, but unfortunately
there's no time for that at the moment.
Am I missing something, or is this just not possible in Word?
Thanks
bill
