Ask him if his code is 100% bug free.
Back at one of my previous jobs, the Director of Pubs came down
from Boston to visit us at our remote R&D shop. He gave a talk
to R&D, QA, and everyone about what our group was all about and
how he saw our role, etc. One of his pronouncements was that
manuals had to be only 90% correct. The head of QA, who was one
of the sharpest and most thorough people I ever worked with,
wrote up a long list of situations that demonstrated 90% quality:
Your car fails to start every 4 days.
100(?) words misspelled on every page of the newspaper.
Your paycheck is off by 10%.
Several thousand people die in airline crashes every day.
Out of every 12-pack of sodas, at least one can contains a roach.
and so on.
As we used to say (referring to operating system bugs), a one-in-a-
million bug happens four times a second....
