After a brief off-list discussion about "The Tech Riders" and a potential
theme song, here are the words to the adaptation of Stan Jones' classic,
"Ghost Riders in the Sky", changed to "Ghost Writers in the Sky"
Enjoy. Or don't - your choice.
(Ghost) Writers in the Sky
(with apologies to Stan Jones)
An old Whirler went writin' out one dark and windy day.
Upon a ridge he rested as he penned along his way.
When all at once a mighty herd of editors he saw,
A-plowin' through the User Guide and up with CorelDraw.
Yippee-yi-ay! Yippee-yi-oh!
Ghost Writers in the sky.
Red pens were still on fire and with rulers made of steel.
The edits black and shiny, and their hot breath he could feel.
A bolt of fear shot through him as they thundered through the sky,
He saw the editors comin' hard, and he heard their mournful cry:
Yippee-yi-ay! Yippee-yi-oh!
Ghost writers in the sky.
Their faces gaunt, their eyes were blurred, their shirts all soaked with
sweat.
They're writing hard to doc that app, but they ain't got it yet.
'Cause they've got to write forever in that cube up in the sky
On pc's snorting fire. As they write on, hear them cry:
Yippee-yi-ay! Yippee-yi-oh!
Ghost writers in the sky.
As the writers loped on by him, he heard one call his name.
"If you want to save your soul from Hell, a-writing in our cube,
Then, cowboy, change your ways today, or with us you will write,
Trying to doc the Devil's app, with all these endless bugs."
Yippee-yi-ay! Yippee-yi-oh!
Ghost writers in the sky ...
Ghost writers in the sky!
