Subject:RE: HELP- Word document template From:"Donald H. White" <whitedh -at- attbi -dot- com> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Fri, 20 Dec 2002 10:36:25 -0500
> I trying to use a Word document template to create a document. When I
save the document from the template, it overwrites the template.
Save the template to the Templates folder.
When you open a New document (File|New), select the General Templates option
from the responding New Document window.
Choose the name of the template you created and wish to use.
Word builds the document 'template;' you create the content.
When you select 'Save,' Word automatically opts for 'Word document (.doc)'
format, not 'Word template (.tmp).'
Even if you go to the Templates folder and open the template, after you
create the content and choose 'Save,' Word should still default for the
'Word document (.doc)' option. This saves the content you created and
preserves the template in the Template folder.
If you're uncertain that this will happen, choose the 'Save As' option
instead, and select 'Word document (.doc)' if Word does not default to it.
Good luck.
