Yes, but the problem is - those tactics may be seen by a manager who won't find
those tactics clever, but irritating. So those tactics hold the chance of doing
more harm than good.

Not necessarily. Smaller firms usually don't have automated rejection systems.
But the process is essentially the same. Somebody scans through resumes and
looks for what they want. If they don't see the right things (buzzwords,
experience, etc.) they toss out the resume. In many ways, a human scanner is
almost worse, because they can be laden down with all kinds of weird bias. For
all you know the person scanning resumes just broke up with her boyfriend,
named Bruce. Your skills are irrelevant, you're another Bruce to her and in the
trash with you.
