Must be nice to be included on the team to begin with. We usually aren't even told that there is a new product until it's completed.
I wonder - have you ever tried to do something about the situation? If appeals to the developers (or whoever 'they' are in this case) do not help, the next logical step would seem to me to escalate to successively higher management layers - after all, this is costing the company at least in product quality, possibly also in salaries and in market opportunities.
If you did try to do something, I'd be interested in the responses you got. If you didn't try, why not?
