In an email application, a sig file is the ASCII text file that is appended to the bottom of your emails. You do not need special software to view it. Usually, you have your name in there, maybe a quote that you are fond of, and your contact information. Some people insist on including ASCII art, and some companies insist on disclaimers in their employee's sig files. Often, these are appended to emails AFTER the employee's sig file, so it's hard to be sure what is what.
