Subject:RE: the technical writer: a real movie From:JB Foster <jb -dot- foster -at- shaw -dot- ca> To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Thu, 23 Jan 2003 19:40:40 -0700
The movie is only 90 minutes long - so he must have re-discovered 'that part
of himself' real quick, and high-tailed it back into his house!
I can just see Fox getting interested in such an un-blemished 'reality'
theme:
Where Fox decides to bring out "Who wants to marry a Tech Writer." A group
of women are brought to the middle of Montana, to a secluded log-house to
meet the eligible writer. A writer who creates user-manuals, and claims he
spends his spare time fondling fonts.
This writer swoons these women by handing them 'witty' poetry to read, and
promises of a personalized biography detailing the life of the lucky lady.
The women are star-stuck at the thought of people fighting over their'
biographies, and an 'Ernest Hemingway' style of life.
The story unfolds, when he confesses to his heart's-desire, that he's really
an illiterate line-painter for the County Roads Department. Lives in his
parent's basement, and recently started attending AA meetings. ... and what
they see, is all a lie! The women now know the horrible truth, but can't
leave because there are no roads out! Do they now switch their attention to
the short, pudgy, balding, and bespectacled, chaperone? ...
At least it sounds better than 90 minutes of personal re-discovery. Anyway,
what can I say, other than it's almost Friday! ;-)
