TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Boredom is what you make it. Luckily for me, I can manage to find interest in just about anything that is going on. Hey, I even managed to get interested in government accounting standards, but that was a stretch.
When I'm in a situation with nothing to interact with, I usually do one of the following:
* Watch other people and log them into my mental "possible character" database for later use
* Examine my surroundings and log the details into my mental "possible locale" database for later use
* Seek out patterns in the ceiling tiles (not too thrilling, but at least it's something to do) eye candy=good
* Plot the otherthrow of the monarchy with the aid of a little lab mouse named Pinky
* Take a nap (the most common choice when situations are desperate)
Unfortunately, these are also the same things I do when someone is talking at me.
I wonder what other people do to battle boredom (in the office to make this relevent to TW)?
