I am told I have a mail account with my cable Internet provider,
but I've never checked it. I can't even imagine how much spam is
in it.

I also have an email account with my cable Internet provider, and I check it periodically. It is spam-free because I never give the email address out to any potential mailing-list or eBay or such.

As for the original questions that this poster asked, I didn't take the time to answer them since it seemed the person was clueless about the technical writing field. He seemed to assume that all technical writers had been "published" somewhere. I've been published a few times, mostly in the distant past. Most of what I have written over the last few years is so proprietary that it never sees the light of day. Of course, a lot of it never seems to see any light, if you know what I mean.
