Or, that you might be able to get the job in the first place.
Being able to get the job in the first place is a different issue than being able to do the job well.
To use your example, you may be a whiz at using DotHLP, but if the content or your help files is crap, . . ..
Which gets back to what several of us have been saying. Just because a person can use the tools doesn't mean the person is a great technical writer.
There's a lot more to the job than being able to use word processing, or any other kind of, software.
