Hey Karen,
Living in Texas myself, and not having all that much need for a color
printer at the moment, I've decided not to get one for a while. Partly,
this decision is based on your comment and observation, too! I've also seen
several reports of people that don't use a printer that often having this
problem. One suggestion is to run a print or two through it at least once a
month, if not once a week. Methinks that, for you and I, once a week would
be necessary.
Sam
Try living in an environment where the average humidity is less than 10%.
Cartridges often dry out before they run out if the printer get occasional
use. As an experiment last summer (humidity 6%) I took out the
non-functioning cartridge, put it upright in a bowl with a quarter inch of
water and let it sit overnight. In the morning the water had been absorbed.
Reinstalled, ran the clean cycle 10 times, and the cartridge functioned.
Saved $35 and probably more since I wasn't using the printer very often.
