Dan the technical writer invited a few friends over to watch some college
basketball. After watching a particularly funny commercial, Troy, who
worked in advertising, began talking about his job.
Suddenly, Dan heard Troy say "screen captures." Dan didn't hesitate a
second before leaping to his feet.
"Guys, you just heard Troy begin to talk about screen captures. As a
technical writer, I'd like to share with you that I use SnagIt - the
leading
screen capture software."
He directed their attention to the whiteboard on his den wall.
"First of all, SnagIt lets you capture anything on the screen. Do you
want
the cursor or not? Do you need a menu? Do you need the entire screen or
just an icon or just a toolbar? You can get any of those - and JUST that
part - no cropping needed," he outlined.
His friends gaped.
"Number two. You can enhance your captures. Add sound, add captions, or
draw on your screen to explain your images."
He got a few nods.
"Number three. You can send your capture to the Clipboard to be pasted in
another program. Send it as an e-mail attachment, to the Web, to the
printer, or save it as a file in your choice of formats. Or - send it to
all of those places at once," he said solemnly.
"Screen captures, oh yes. Download it for a free 30-day trial." Dan sat,
satisfied.
Troy, hopeful that SnagIt would make him as excited about HIS job, didn't
even mention that he'd actually been talking about "scene chapters."
