having a celebration with contests and prizes--generously provided by
our very own TECHWR-L sponsors. Participate in the current contest:
Who has been on the TECHWR-L list the longest?
Of current TECHWR-L subscribers, who was the first to subscribe? If you
think you're the one, let us know! Tell us when you subscribed, and from
which address (if you remember). The winner of the "Who Has Been On
TECHWR-L The Longest" contest will have a choice of a license for

Dan the technical writer's face was burning as he left the library. He
KNEW better. He'd just humiliated himself - and a (formerly) pleasant
woman - by asking her "Is that your grandson?" She'd coldly replied, "No,
it's my son." He then tried to explain that he didn't think she was old,
just that her son was young . . . and all in all, only succeeded to
further offend her.
He wished he had a way of checking what he did before he actually did it
. . . like a real-life Preview Window! His thoughts turned, fondly, to
SnagIt - the leading screen capture program.
SnagIt's Preview Window allowed him to preview his captured image before
deciding whether to keep it. Also, since the Preview Window opened as a
separate window, he could make changes in his SnagIt configurations,
perform a new capture and view the new results without having to close the
Preview Window. Plus, he could edit the images with the Preview Window's
image editing effects and easily undo the changes if necessary.
In a better state of mind, he entered the drugstore, gathered some items
and made his way to the register.
He smiled at the cashier and asked unwisely, "So, when's your baby due?"
