Sure, simplify the manuals if that will help even one person.
But the manufacturers shouldn't get off the hook just by
rewriting their manuals. Installing car seats is too hard, and
there are too many ways to do it wrong. When you spend $25K for
a car, and $100 for a car seat, you'd expect them to fit
together properly without a fight.
Most car seats are installed by some jury-rigged strapping
method using seatbelts designed for a human body, not a car
seat. The auto engineers should work together with the car seat
vendors, with a little regulatory encouragement if necessary.
Documentation is not a substitute for engineering and product
quality.
