Most car seats are installed by some jury-rigged strapping
method using seatbelts designed for a human body, not a car
seat. The auto engineers should work together with the car seat
vendors, with a little regulatory encouragement if necessary.

I was researching cars recently (I'm in the market for a new one), and I found one with a built-in infant car seat. Not having any kids, I have no need for such a thing, but I can see how it would be handy, and might eliminate some of the problem.
