...what kind of gizmo inside a machine qualifies as an Air Moving Device (AMD), but not as a fan (technically speaking, of course).
I once had a similar discussion with an engineer who wanted to call the fan a Heat Distribution Agent. He won that round, because he convinced his manager that using a 'generic name for the ultimate function' would require less re-writing when they upgraded the equipment with future technological improvements.
