I've had pretty good luck with responding to ads
(placed in all sorts of venues), both for full-time
and contract positions. Referrals and repeat business
are quite significant for me also. Still, in most
cases I got the original work because of responding to
an advertisement. I'd suggest casting a very wide net
and responding widely if you are looking for a job.
