I recently wrote an article that has been published on the Web. Some of you might find the information in the article, "Resumes for a New Millenium" helpful.

A lively and well-written article, Diane.

There's several different approaches to resumes floating about, and none are right or wrong, except insofar as they help you to get interviews. However, that said, I differ on a few points:

1.) A summary is probably better than a vague objective that only tells what you are interested in, but I prefer an objective that explains in a few sentences how your skills can be useful to an employer.

2.) An achievement section is useful, especially if you're interested in a managerial position.

3.) Putting interests and volunteer work is a useful if you know what sort of overall impression you want to make. If nothing else, they give employers a handle to start talking with you. I once got a position because I have parrots and the interviewer had a cockatiel, while another employer hired me because he liked to see someone who did volunteer work. Admittedly, these would be the first sections to go if I was short of space, but they aren't obsolete.

But, as I say, there's several schools of though.
