Hello all,
I have recently been given the job of publishing technical material
explaining our companies products, etc. to both in-house staff and select
customers. I work in the pharmaceutical industry.
This is eventually going to be a new division within our company.
I have no previous experience in technical writing or editing. I was given
the job because no one else wanted it and I would like to learn about
publishing. My previous experience was in graphic design of the company's
print advertisements. The printing, layout and design part of publishing I
understand. It is the writing/editing part that has me mystified.
Even though I am planning on being more of a director than editor, by
letting a more competent staff member do the editing, I was thinking of
writing a directive describing the Purpose and Scope of
our publishing division. (A big name for five or six people.)
What I would like to know is, is this worth the effort?
Do any of the professionals on the list have similar directives in place at
your company?
How does it read?
Do people pay attention to it?
Thank you for taking the time to help me in my struggle not to look too
ignorant.
Have a nice day.
Sincerely,
Con-chan
P.S. Please excuse my poor English.
