So it seems that what John and Bruce are saying is that the market for
consultants is good--if you have the ability and the temperament for
consulting, you will have no problems getting a job in today's climate.
Hmmmm....interesting. Glad to hear things are fine for y'all. My
experiences in central Virginia are, sadly, otherwise. Despite being a
consultant in several different roles, I simply could not obtain any work
for four months in 2002--and consequently took a full-time job (at a 20%
pay cut). Having lurked in the market, I'm seeing fewer and fewer
opportunities--companies in central Virginia are reducing the amount of
outsourcing in order to cut actual costs, developers and business analysts
and managers and admin assistants are producing "documentation" (many
definitions) instead of trained, professional tech writers.
Tehn again, that's just my viewpoint....
