RE: Tech writer/ Documentation Specialist
In most cases that I've seen, Documentation Specialist is simply a title denoting seniority, experience and expertise; TW -> Senior TW -> Documentation Specialist.
Interesting. The definitions seem to vary considerably. Around here, many companies define it the other way around. Documentation Specialist is usually an entry level job, equivalent to a lab assistant or similar non-exempt (from US wage and hours regulations) position. The hierarchy/career track at those companies runs:
Doc. Specialist > Technical writer (or Editor
or Information Developer) > Senior Whatever.
