Format, style, and presentation are all irrelevant at this stage. You need to
get your hands dirty and "be the ball."
Ask the manager(s) to put you in the job and have one of their recievers train
you. Do the job for about a week. Along the way, ask questions, take notes, and
learn the ropes.
Then you'll be in a perfect position to write with authority. You will have
actually performed the process steps. Allowing you to have insight into how
they work. Something you will not pick up if you merely interview managers.
So steps:
1. Do the job for a week
2. Write up a plan & outline
3. Write docs
4. Tweak n' edit
