There is an error in the logic in the following statement.
> 2. Formal grammar learned from an old battle-axe in junior high
> or high school (college is too late).
It is the word "formal." There are many people who have not had the benefit
of good teachers. I'm one. I just counted up how many schools I've attended:
9 schools in 7 districts K-12; 7 colleges for vaious degrees or
certificates.
During that time I've had 2 "good" English teachers, but both were for
Literature classes not grammar. I learned that the old fashioned way, sweat
and tears, and some grammar books. Does it mean I can't be a "good technical
writer"?
