As we discussed off-list, that really depends on what you use templates for.
I use them to help ensure consistency across multiple-writer projects and across multiple-document doc sets.
For that purpose, the single most powerful tool is the "Automatically update document styles" option in the Template and Add-Ins dialog box. combined with the diligence of the project lead (with the help of my trusty suite of style-cleaning macros).
HTML Indexer 4 is still the easiest way to create and maintain indexes
for web sites, intranets, HTML Help, JavaHelp, and other HTML documents.
HTML Indexer 4 includes fully integrated cross-references, target frames
and windows, multiple-file output, "one-step accept" of default entries,
and more!
