I don't understand the last sentence. Useful for whom?
Useful where? In software user guides, or in scientific
reference books?

My comment is, if you have analyzed your audience
and their needs, and you are convinced that such lists
would be useful to them (not to you), then of course
you should include them. I personally can't think of
a case where I have ever looked for one in a software
user guide, but I can imagine contexts in which they
might be useful, particularly in engineering specifications.
