Well, with regards to the assumed literacy of Joe Average American, even
the grossest exaggeration seems plausible. Back in the 80's, I remember
stories about the inability of high school seniors to find their own state
on a map, let alone finding the nation's capitol. One can safely assume
it's just gotten worse since then.
But that's a rant best saved for a future blog post ;-)
