Dan the technical writer enjoyed speaking with writers from other
companies
at conferences.
In a discussion group, Rick, another tech writer announced, "I use SnagIt
to do all my screen captures, because it saves me time and makes getting
images so easy."
"Don't you love the latest version - that you can put SnagIt into the
toolbars of Word, PowerPoint, Explorer? And the COM server interface?
And
the menu option in FrameMaker?" Dan gushed.
"Oh," Rick responded, "No - mine doesn't do that. I must have an earlier
version."
Dan's face showed his abject confusion. "But why?" he said. "Are you
aware of the upgrading policy? Do you know how useful these changes are?"
Rick mumbled something unintelligible, and Dan took action.
"If you have an older version of SnagIt," he began, "you're on the right
track, but you're not experiencing the full range of its capabilities."
The group looked at him expectantly, so he leapt up and began handing out
a
SnagIt fact sheet.
"Enhanced Region selection tool, Web Capture, Web page output," he
recited.
"The list goes on and on!" He bade them to study the sheet and download
the latest version to get the full effect of SnagIt. Several people asked
questions and everyone seemed really excited about Dan's 'discovery.'
"I may not be in tune with the latest music, movies or stars," Dan
thought,
"but wow! I am so hip to that computer software beat."
