RE: Chatty vs. Bitchy
The only thing I regret is that I didn't study mechanical engineering.
Me too.
When I went to school back in the dark ages, almost none of my teachers realized that the shy girl from the dirt-poor family who hid in the back had a genius-level IQ. When I maxed out the mechanical-reasoning portion of the aptitude test in 8th grade, I was told that I would never amount to anything because I lacked the eye-hand coordination to take shorthand and "only boys get that high a score in mechanical reasoning."
In 1974, I was working in a factory and applied to become an electrician's apprentice. I was told that I didn't qualify because a woman couldn't carry a tool box and electrical piping at the same time.
I thought that all I would ever be able to do well is get married and have babies, and I wasn't very good at either one of those things, either.
It took me many years to find my calling in life. I love what I do, and just wish I had discovered this occupation 20 years before...
