The practical limit used to be 100 pages, but I suspect with a suped-up modern machine, you could go much bigger. In any case, you can use Utilities > Book to assemble multiple pulication files into one final product.

The main thing is to link, not embed, any graphics. And DO upgrade to 7.01 if you haven't already.
