So I'll ask the group: What single course proved to be most useful in your
technical writing work?
First semester freshman English. In College. All we did, it seemed, was
write papers. The Harbrace College Handbook was my friend. At one time, I
could quote you verbatim on indefinite pronoun reference (my Achilles heel).
The writing skills were always there, just raw and unpolished. By the time I
finished that semester, I had internalized the ground rules that help me do
what I do today, and do it well - writing wise, at least.
