I disagree with the article that you read. In Southern
Ca. Hi-Tech workers (now) are a dime a dozen and
employers are the ones playing "musical chairs". They
are not looking for longevity, just cheap hungry
workers.

I would rather stay with an employer for 10 to 20
years (provided I was compensated fairly for my work)
than change jobs every few years. Going through the
dot com bust taught me one thing - unemployment
stinks!

I think that it makes no difference. If you can afford
to live on contracting and consulting fees - than do
it for the joy of being your own boss.
