Note: I am not saying it will work. Also, note that this is not handing money
to Boeing. Its merely a tax break. That does not, necessarily, mean a tax
increase for anybody else.
It does mean either a tax increase for somebody else/some other sector, or a cut in state services. More pot-holes, or maybe the schools get less money. Or more tax burden on individual households to make up the difference. I guess the gamble is that more individual households will be employed at Boeing. But it does raise the question of Boeing's social responsibility. After all, they are subsidized by the US people on both sides of the tax equation. If outsourcing this part of their business is socially responsible in the long run, then it's up to Boeing to at least argue the case. Because in the long run it's the tax payers who have to decide what subsidies they deserve (assuming a democracy of substance, not one merely of process).
