I hope the reference to truck drivers has more to do with the truck driver
paying attention to the road, and less to do with the truck driver being
unable to detect grammatical errors. :)

I read somewhere that the need for inclusive language trumps the need for
noun/pronoun agreement. If you agree, go with Dick's suggestion to use the
singular "they", unless the meaning relies on the implied number of
truckers.
