>I think the self-serve pump interface needs a complete re-work.

Well, maybe, but one thing the self-serve gas pump interface has that is SORELY LACKING on every other card swipe device I've encountered is a clear graphic that shows you what direction to insert your card.
At the drug store and the grocery store, the self-serve card reader has a flat cartoon of a credit card shape with a black stripe. The icon is on a horizontal surface and it is attempting to inform me which direction to insert a card in a vertical slot. This is the most unintuitive icon I encounter on a regular basis. I can never remember which direction it _means_ for me to insert the card, and there is no consistency from manufacturer to manufacturer.
If anyone within earshot works for a company that makes these terminals, please address this usability issue. Then you might work on getting the prompt text to have something to do with the actual button names when you get a chance. Sheesh!
