You just described my puppy!
When I first met my future father-in-law (now my ex-father-in-law), I was 16
years old. I walked in to their kitchen, where he was at the table cleaning
a handgun. I was very respectful, pleasant, did not outstay my welcome, and
made sure I followed the posted rules. We got along really well, partially
because I knew he had a gun.
That's how I approach people at trade shows these days. Works pretty well,
too!
