Why not set everybody to NOMAIL? Let 'em read the
newsgroup or the web archive.

Of course, subscribers could always set their
subscription back to MAIL... but then they'd be opting
in to receive mail.

That might reduce the sense of assault people are
feeling when unwanted messages arrive in their inbox.

The problem with email-based systems is that every
message is given equal weight.
