Subject:Trying to create a linked index in Word From:technical -at- theverbalist -dot- com To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Wed, 16 Jul 2003 12:24:38 -0600
Hello Whirlers,
Having spent the last year in a nest of other tech writers, I've been
nomail for a good long while, but I'm on to a new contract, and I'm the
only lonely tech writer, so it's great to be back on the list and I'm glad
to see the quality and quantity of debate hasn't abated ;)
So, now that's out of the way, on to my question. I'm trying to create an
index in Word that links to the page the information is on, much the way
the TOC links to the page the heading is on. Word doesn't seem to want to
do this. This document's final format will be a pdf, so if there is some
way of circumventing Word's index, and putting links into the pdf index
entries that would work just as well.
Can Word do what I'm asking it to do? Can a pdf do what I'd like it to do?
I've beat my head against many a Word site, the archives and even Word's
help for the last two days, but no luck.
...help me Obi Tech Kenobis; you're my only hope...
