Interview prearranged for 10:00, so the suit is in the
car. I go out to the car in my normal Aloha shirt,
shorts, and shoes (sandals not allowed), change and
drive to the interview. I finish the interview and
change back into normal duds, arrive at desk to find
a message asking if I can make an interview which is
in 20 minutes. I respond affirmatively, go back out
to the car, change again, and arrive at the
interviewer's desk to find him in an aloha shirt.
He was also given a short notice for the interview
and didn't bring a suit to work that day. I got the job,
and with the change was able to wear sandals. Life is
good for those of us who are content with the simple
things.
Bottom line, wear a suit for an interview, get the job,
and then size up the standard attire, or even inquire
during the interview. Be professional, look
professional for obtaining a professional job.
CB - wearing the aloha attire even when working from
home, but then again, it's what I wear year round. I
even have a pair of water proof sandals for the winter.
