Hello fellow whirlers!

All this discussion about technical writing for biomed reminded me of a
conversation I had with some nice folks I met at a wedding recently. One of
the couples we were seated with were IP Lawyers that both held degrees in
science and law. After discovering my occuparion, one of them asked me if I
had ever considered being a Patent Writer. He admitted that he wasn't sure
what it involved to become a patent writer if you are not looking to
eventually become an IP lawyer, but he loosely described it as someone with
a science background that has great writing skills, and does not need to be
a lawyer. It sounded similar to what I understand to be a Grant/Proposal
Writer, or a tech writer in the biomed industry. Does anyone have any
knowledge and experience of this brand of technical writing? Is this an area
TWs can explore as a career?

Just curious.

Syed
