Large companies handle this via internal billing.
Instead of cold hard cash being exchanged for labor,
budgetary credits are issued. The system works, so
long as there's a process to follow and a "cop"
overlooking it all.
If this isn't possible, well, determine who is making
the decision to work on these outside projects and let
that person offer up a solution that benefits both
parties. If it's you just being nice, well, think
again about offering help freely next time.
