Thanks to all that responded to my question. Everything did work out
just fine. It was just a case of giving someone an inch (With my
manager's approval) and then wanting a mile (Manager did not like the
subsequent requests of my services).
So, now I am back to my corner desk in a small room in the middle of
the building with a window to the south overlooking I-88 -- if I lean
back really far in my chair -- writing procedures.
