Thank you to those who answered my recent post asking what what the cutting
edge skills were for a technical writer. I appreciate your time and your
insights.
In creating the posting, I may not have made myself clear. Specifically, I
was looking for technical skills that would place a technical writer at the
forefront of their craft as it is practiced today. Obviously, the skills
mentioned in your replies are vitally important, but I'm interested in the
technologies, programs, or languages you feel would be the most valuable.
For example, I'm learning about XSLT in an attempt to better understand how
data contained in XML containers can be most effectively repurposed across a
variety of formats. Is that among the right answers? It may be, but I'd
enjoy hearing your thoughts about what technical skills define a "cutting
edge" technical writer.
