Subject:Opening a template (.dot) as a (.doc) in Word From:fbelton -at- octigabay -dot- com To:"TECHWR-L" <techwr-l -at- lists -dot- raycomm -dot- com> Date:Wed, 17 Sep 2003 18:14:17 -0600
Hi,
I am an infrequent Word user (lucky enough to use FM most of the time),
and have a question that I'm sure someone out there knows the answer to!
I've created a .dot MS Word template file for use by the engineers at our
site. Normally, one just has to double-click on this file to start a new
document based on this template (Document1.doc). However, one of the
engineers has encountered a different behaviour: when he double-clicks on
the .dot file, MS Word opens the template file itself -- the .dot file --
instead of starting a new document.
I'm sure this has something to do with the way his system is set up, but
I'm not sure how to change it. Any ideas?
(Please copy replies directly to me as I am on digest)
Thanks!
