LOL!

I wondered when the non-MS crowd would show. <vbg>

My last PC purchase (I run 3 at home, the oldest is a
2GHZ P4 WinXP Pro with 256MB) was a laptop.

I came very close to buying a (then) $3300 Apple with
a DVD-R and a nice big screen. But, I went with a
$2200 Dell instead.

Why?

Well, price. The Dell was everything the Mac was
except it had a CD-RW instead of the DVD-R.

And, reality. I use FrameMaker, Photoshop,
Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Office 2002, etc. To get a
copy of my core apps for Mac would have cost me an
additional $2500 on top of the $3300.

So, the viruses? Well, am running MailWasher at home
and Norton. Together, that's $70. I would say that the
cost of the Mac($5800) minus the cost of the Dell
($2200) minus the cost of the security ($70), which is
$3530, means I am still very much ahead of the game
despite the prevalence of viruses for the Windows
platform.

Of course, YMMV.

Cheers,

Sean
