I don't use Outlook or Outlook Express precisely because they *and* IE are security nightmares. Thus, I am operating from memory here. 
  
However, what does the version of IE have to do with the abilities of Outlook or Outlook Express?

view--there are malicious code bits that can be buried in HTML mail that 
would already be doing their work simply by being displayed.
