Jean:

You may have noticed that version 1.1 of OpenOffice.org has an option to save
as Simplified DocBook. For those who don't know, Simplified DocBook uses a
limited set of DocBook tags, which makes it easier to use.

I haven't had an extensive look at the format in OOo's release candidate 4,
except to see that it works on a simple document. However, you might want to
experiment to see if working in OOo and saving to Simplified DocBook isn't a
solution you can live with.
