I've worked on GUI apps that got turned into command line applications.
Every field in the GUI was an option on the command line. Once you've gone
that direction, slamming the command line app back into an webpage isn't
difficult. The look might change.

Typically, web applications have better GUIs than standalone applications,
because you have different specialists with different focuses working on the
web app.
